Discrete scattering theory: Green’s function for a square lattice

چکیده

It is well known that, under certain circumstances, discrete plane waves can propagate through lattices. Waves can also be generated by oscillating one point in the lattice: the corresponding solution of the governing partial difference equations is the discrete Green’s function, gmn. The far-field behaviour of gmn is obtained using three methods: textbook derivations are corrected and a formula for gnn as a Legendre function is derived. The low-frequency behaviour of gmn is also obtained using Mellin transforms. These results are useful in the development of a discrete scattering theory. 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

The study of electronic conductance of a nanoribbon with square lattice including some impurities

In this paper, we study the electronic conductance of a nanoribbon with square lattice by using Green’s function theory within the tight-binding approach. For this purpose, we separate the conductance modes in the ideal parts by using a suitable unitary transformation in order to obtain the analytic formula for the corresponding self-energies. Then, we present a fast computer algorithm based on...

The complete impurity scattering formalism in graphene

We present the complete formalism that describes scattering in graphene at lowenergies. We begin by analyzing the real-space free Green’s function matrix, and its analytical expansions at low-energy, carefully incorporating the discrete lattice structure, and arbitrary forms of the atomic-orbital wave function. We then compute the real-space Green’s function in the presence of an impurity. We e...

Transport Theory for Light Propagation in Tissues*

We review the basic theory for the radiative transport equation governing light propagation in biological tissues. The Green’s function is the fundamental solution to the transport equation from which all other solutions can be computed. We compute the Green’s function as an analytical expansion in plane wave modes. We calculate these plane wave modes numerically using the discrete ordinate met...
